Chandrababu Naidu calls for ‘greater cooperation’ between Telugu states

Tirupati: Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday underscored the need for a conciliatory approach and greater cooperation between the two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on resolving water disputes. Speaking at a public meeting near Malyala in Nandyal district, Naidu referred to his meeting with his Telangana counterpart Revanth Reddy in New Delhi for talks on issues concerning water sharing between the two states.“There is no need for the two Telugu states to be at loggerheads with each other over water sharing as prosperity of both states is equally important for all of us. We have mutually agreed to establish the Godavari river management board at Hyderabad and the Krishna river management board in Vijayawada. Andhra Pradesh will take full responsibility for the funding and execution of Srisailam plunge pool works, a crucial component for the reservoir’s stability and operational efficiency,” the CM said.Further demonstrating the spirit of cooperation, Naidu revealed that he has offered Telangana the option to utilise Godavari waters if necessary and said he has sought their active cooperation for river interlinking projects.
