Tata Motors has announced that’s its highly popular Punch compact SUV has achieved a production milestone of 6 lakh units in less than four years since its launch. Introduced in October 2021, the Tata Punch crossed 1 lakh sales mark under a year, followed by 4 and 5 lakh sales milestones in July 2023 and January 2025, respectively. The carmaker claims that nearly 70 percent of Tata Punch ICE owners are first-time car buyers.
Interestingly, the Tier I and Tier II cities contribute nearly 24 percent and 42 percent, respectively, to its total sales, while 34 percent comes from Tier III towns, highlighting its widespread consumer base across the country. The Punch has always been admired for its modern compact design, high ground clearance, practicality and of-course 5-star safety. In FY2025, the Punch holds a significant 38 percent market share in the subcompact SUV segment.

To commemorate this extraordinary journey, Tata Motors has launched a new nationwide campaign titled “India Ki SUV”. “The campaign celebrates the lakhs of Indians who have made the Tata Punch a part of their lives and showcases stories of empowerment, exploration, and everyday adventure.”
Tata Punch Facelift Coming In October 2025
Amid increasing competition in the segment, Tata Motors is set to give the Punch SUV a midlife update in October, 2025. The updated model is likely to borrow design elements from the Punch EV. It might feature a newly-designed grille, slimmer headlamps, revised bumpers, new LED DRL signature and new alloy wheels.
Inside, the 2025 Tata Punch facelift might get a new Altroz-inspired two-spoke steering wheel, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster and a touch-based HVAC control panel.
Mechanically, the new Punch is likely to remain unchanged. The compact SUV will continue to use the 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, delivering power worth 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. A CNG powertrain option will also be offered. The lineup will be available with both manual and AMT gearbox options.
