Kurnool: A 25-year-old woman died reportedly due to an adverse reaction to an injection prescribed by a doctor at a private hospital and administered by an Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) on Thursday. Enraged by this, her family members attacked the hospital in Kurnool damaging its property and staged a protest for justice. However, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
According to family members, Anita, a resident of Kallur in Kurnool district, had been suffering from fever for the past four days. She visited Srichakra Hospital, where a doctor in the out patient department prescribed an injection. Subsequently, a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) administered the injection to her.
Soon after receiving the injection, Anita died. Her family members alleged that the death occurred due to the severe adverse reaction to the medication. In protest, they reached the hospital and damaged glass panes and hospital property.
On being alerted, DSP J. Babu Prasad and police personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control and sent the body for post mortem. The victim’s family demanded action against the hospital based on the findings, if the death was indeed caused by medical negligence or incorrect medication.
