Kia has launched the Carens Clavis EV in India, with prices starting at Rs 17.99 lakh and going up to Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the electric version of the Carens Clavis will begin on July 22, and deliveries are expected to follow shortly after.

In terms of design, the Carens Clavis EV closely mirrors its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, with only subtle visual distinctions that highlight its electric identity.

Notable among these is the replacement of the chrome strip between the daytime running lamps with a lightbar, along with the addition of a charging port integrated into the front fascia.

Along the sides, the vehicle features EV-specific alloy wheels, though no other major styling changes are evident. The rear design remains largely consistent with the ICE version, maintaining the familiar look.

As for the interior, the EV retains the three-row seating arrangement and much of the dashboard layout, including the display housing dual screens.

What’s different, however, is the centre console, which now includes an extended armrest, more storage space, and a new row of physical buttons at the front.

The gear selector has also been repositioned to the steering column, similar to what’s seen in the Hyundai Creta Electric.

On the equipment front, the Carens Clavis EV carries over a comprehensive list of features from its ICE sibling.

The feature set includes Level 2 ADAS, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 64-colour ambient lighting, an integrated air purifier, a Bose sound system, a powered driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof and more.

The EV is powered by a front-mounted electric motor, available with two battery pack options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The smaller battery offers a claimed range of 404 km, while the larger one is rated for up to 490 km on a full charge.

Performance figures vary accordingly, with the 42 kWh variant producing 133 bhp and the 51.4 kWh version delivering a higher output of 169 bhp.
