Telangana: White tiger released into enclosure in Kakatiya Zoological Park


Hanamkonda: A white tiger brought from the Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad was released into the tiger enclosure in Kakatiya Zoological Park in Hanamkonda.

Forest Minister Konda Surekha along with Chief Conservator of Forests (Bhadradri Circle) D Bima Naik and District Forest Officer Anuj Agarwal released the tiger into the enclosure. She also launched a QR code and chatbot application to provide information about the animals in the zoo.


The Minister called on the public to come forward to adopt the animals in the zoo and help develop the zoo park further. Warangal Zoo Park would be developed on the lines of Hyderabad Zoo Park. Flood canals were being built to avoid flooding in the zoo park. Soon, more animals would be brought to the zoo, she said while Chief Conservator of Forests Bima Naik said the Forest Department officials have allocated Rs 4 crore for the zoo development.

District Forest Officer (Flying Squad division) K Krishnamachari, Zoo Park range officer B Mayuri, Orugallu Wildlife Society members, Forest Department staff and zoo park staff were present.

Two ailing male and female tigers, Shanker and Kareena, at Kakatiya Zoological Park were shifted to Hyderabad zoo a few days ago. Forest officials said another tiger would be brought to the zoo park soon.

The Kakatiya Zoological Park, which was established in 1985, has 134 mammals, 89 reptiles and 196 birds. One leopard, three jungle cats, 12 jackals, 44 spotted deer, 25 black bucks, eight mouse deer and 18 four horned antelopes were among the zoo inventory.
