Tollywood is known to have some of the finest commercial film makers in all of Indian Cinema. The fact that Telugu Cinema consistently makes big money grossers at the box office is a testament of the same.
But if we look at the current top directors in the industry, they are all in hibernation mode, and it appears that their efforts have been rather lethargic to say the least.

For instance, we have Trivikram and Sukumar, who have both been away from cinema for a long time. Trivikram completed Guntur Kaaram during 2024 Sankranti, and he did not have another project till now.
Sukumar completed Pushpa, last December and he too has been without a project in hand ever since.

Same goes with Koratala Siva, who can perhaps be regarded as one of the top directors in Telugu film industry. He has also been a project in hand after completing Devara.
Lastly, we have the main name on the list, and it is none other than Rajamouli. It is a fact that he started the film with Mahesh Babu, but the issue has been with the pacing.

After completing a couple of schedules, this film did not hit the floor till now, and Rajamouli had been having enough spare time ever since. Shooting as anything, but efficient till now.
While the industry is already struggling due to the lack of commercial directors who can make elite grade cinema, the silence of these top directors is worrisome to say the least.
If the issue here is the strict timelines of top heroes, then it is perhaps time for these top directors to go for other alternative options in the second tier.
