Hyderabad: The Malakpet police solved the murder case of CPI State Council member, Kethavath Chandu Rathod, with the arrest of four individuals including Donthi Rajesh alias Rajanna, a leader of CPI ML party.

The arrested persons are Donthi Rajesh (48), Arjun Gnana Prakash (26), Lingibedi Rambabu (30),m and Kandukuri Prashanth (30). Two others Kumba Yedukondalu and Sreenu are absconding.

According to S Chaitanya Kumar, DCP (Southeast), the victim Chandu was having a dispute with Rajesh over Rs. 13 lakh he had collected from some persons in 2022.

“Chandu collected the money from the people to provide them space on 100 acres of land in Kuntloor village in Hayathnagar mandal for erecting huts. A total of Rs. 13 lakh was collected. However, Chandu told the party seniors that Rajesh had not given him any money,” said S Chaitanya Kumar.

Rajesh became angry with Chandu and planned his revenge. “Chandu also collected Rs. 12 lakh from Rajesh’s brother-in-law to settle an issue. He was also having an extramarital affair with Rajesh’s wife,” said the DCP.

Keeping all this in mind, Rajesh decided to kill Chandu and hired five individuals. After keeping a tab on his movements, they cornered their victim on July 15 while he was on his morning walk.

“Prashanth threw chilli powder on him while Prakash and Sreenu fired at him with short weapons leading to his death,” said the official. After the incident, the police registered a case and formed special teams to nab the four suspects. Rajesh and Rambabu during confession admitted to their involvement in a burglary case at Vizag and the police seized the gold from them.
