
The year 2025 is moving at lightning speed — six months have already passed, and July is just 10 days away from wrapping up. In the first half of the year, hundreds of films hit theaters across various Indian film industries, but only a select few managed to make a real mark at the box office.
Recently, Ormax Media released its India Box Office Report: January–June 2025, offering a detailed look at industry performance.

According to the report, Indian films collectively grossed Rs. 5,723 crores between January and June, marking a 14% growth compared to the same period last year.
This indicates that despite fewer blockbusters, the market overall has strengthened. Notably, 17 films crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark in this period.

Looking ahead, the second half of 2025 is expected to be even more eventful, with multiple big-budget releases slated across languages.
If these films manage strong word-of-mouth and robust collections, Ormax projects that 2025 could end with a record-breaking Rs. 13,500 crores, potentially making it the highest-grossing year in Indian theatrical history.

Among all releases so far, Chhaava emerged as the biggest earner with Rs. 693 crores, while Venkatesh’s Sankrantiki Vastunnam secured second place with over Rs. 300 crores. June alone contributed approximately Rs. 900 crores to the half-yearly total.
In Bollywood, Raid 2, Sitaare Zameen Par, and Housefull 5 stood out, each nearing Rs. 200 crores in collections. From the South, titles like Kuberaa, Thandel, F1, Superman, Jurassic World Rebirth added major strength to the box-office figures.
Latest release Saiyaara has also turned out to be a blockbuster and should touch 300 crores worldwide box office collection.
With the year’s second half loaded with potential blockbusters like WAR 2, Coolie, Thama, Kantara 2, OG, Akhanda 2, and many others, all eyes are on the upcoming releases to see whether 2025 can rewrite box-office history.
