A Phuket-bound Air India Express flight from Hyderabad has returned to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad shortly after takeoff after the crew detected a technical glitch.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft (IX 110) departed the airport at 6.20 a.m. and noticed a technical glitch under 20 minutes after the takeoff. After reporting it to the officials, the flight made a descent and landed safely at 6.57 a.m. at the airport.
“After the takeoff, aircraft crew noticed a technical issue at 6.49 a.m. during the flight,” an airport executive said.
“Shortly after takeoff, crew on one of our flights exercised abundant caution and elected to return to Hyderabad on account of a technical issue. We arranged an alternative aircraft on priority. The flight has since departed,” an Air India Express spokesperson said.
