One of the last things you expect from a flight is to have your handbag stolen! But in a bizarre incident, an Air India crew member’s handbag was stolen mid-air. Yes, this happened during a Delhi-Hyderabad flight. Here’s what happened during this bizarre incident!
Air India Crew Member Robbed Mid-Air
As revealed in a report by The New Indian Express, an Air India flight which was headed to Hyderabad from Delhi witnessed a bizarre incident. Yes, during mid-air, a crew member’s handbag was stolen! The incident occurred to the Delhi-based crew member at around 5:10 PM. According to the report, it is said to have occurred while she was still on duty. The stolen hand luggage was company-issued and contained important items. Yes, these included a mobile phone, official documents, a FOREX card, and a passport, amongst other items. And it is alleged that the bag was taken by a passenger!
The Crew Member’s Hand-Luggage Was Stolen
Although the crew member tried to contact the person by calling on her phone, which was initially answered. The passenger did answer the phone and mentioned how the bag had been taken by mistake. He even mentioned how he would return it! Later, however, the phone was switched off.. As a result, the crew member has launched a complaint with the RGI Airport Police. This case has been registered under section 305 (a) of BNS (Theft). With the investigation currently underway, as revealed by a Times of India report, the police are already analysing CCTV footage from the terminal. Not to mention passenger manifest from Air India has also been asked so that they can trace the accused soon.

Not The Only Incident Of Such Thefts
Such bizarre cases of theft, while uncommon, aren’t impossible. Just the previous year, a woman had complained how her mother was almost robbed mid-air in an Indigo flight. It was only later when the passengers intervened that the lady could recover her stolen items! And the user had also alleged that the crew weren’t helpful during the situation, and the airline later responded with concern to offer her the earliest assistance.
So, although it’s not easy to have your handbags stolen in an aeroplane (for obvious reasons), one must not forget that it’s not entirely impossible. It’s always best to be careful and to stay alert, no matter what, to avoid any such misadventures.
