HYDERABAD: Five persons were killed early on Friday morning when the car they were travelling in rear-ended a truck on the Outer Ring Road. The victims were on their way to Yadagirigutta and rammed into the truck at high speed near the Bonguluru exit at around 3.30 am.Of the five victims, M Chandulal, 29, G Janardhan, 50, and K Balraju, 40, died on the spot. J Krishna, 25, and D Bhaskar, 39, succumbed to their injuries while being treated at a local hospital.A preliminary investigation revealed Chandulal was driving the car. The truck driver did not stop after the accident and sped away. Police officers have booked a case against him and are trying to track him down to ascertain how the accident took place.Police officers told TOI the impact of the accident was such that the car was completely crushed. 5 friends’ trip ends in midnight crash When officers arrived at the spot, they found the victims trapped inside its mangled remains. Amid heavy rain, the officers used crowbars and other equipment to cut open parts of the car to remove the bodies and the two men who were alive at the time.While Balaraju, a resident of Yenkapalli in Moinabad, ran a chicken shop, Chandulal and the others worked at a resort in Moinabad. The five were friends, having come in contact with each other as Balaraju supplied chicken to resorts in the area. “Balaraju informed his wife at 11.30 pm on Thursday that he was going to Yadagirigutta and he may not return home,” said Subhash, Balaraju’s brother. The family came to know about the accident later.
