Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas has encouraged the younger generation to reduce time spent endlessly scrolling through Instagram and instead focus on gaining proficiency with AI tools. In a recent conversation with Matthew Berman, Srinivas emphasized that individuals who stay ahead in adopting and utilizing AI will have a clear advantage in the job market, asserting that this shift is “inevitable.”

He cautioned that those who don’t keep pace with the fast-moving world of artificial intelligence—where major changes occur every three to six months—risk being left behind professionally.

Srinivas admitted that keeping up with the rapid evolution of technology is no easy task and noted that humanity, historically, hasn’t been particularly swift when it comes to adjusting to major shifts.

In the latest episode of The Verge’s “Decoder” podcast, Srinivas elaborated that with the arrival of more advanced reasoning models such as GPT-5 or Claude 4.5, Comet could ultimately take over the responsibilities typically handled by recruiters.

“A recruiter’s work worth one week is just one prompt: sourcing and reach outs. And then you’ve got to do state tracking.” Srinivas said on the podcast.

“you want it to keep following up, keep a track of their responses. If some people respond, go and update the Google Sheets, mark the status as responded or in progress and follow up with those candidates, sync with my Google calendar, and then resolve conflicts and schedule a chat, and then push me a brief ahead of the meeting. Some of these things should be proactive. It doesn’t even have to be a prompt.” he added.

Comet browser:

At present, the Comet browser is exclusive to Perplexity’s paid subscribers, though the company has begun rolling out invitations for free users, who are expected to gain access to the AI-driven platform in the near future.

During a recent Reddit AMA, CEO Aravind Srinivas confirmed that while the Comet browser will eventually be available to all users, certain advanced AI-powered features and agent-based tasks may remain locked behind a subscription paywall.
