Revanth, Bhatti to meet Cong brass, MPs to seek support for 42% BC quota

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy and deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka will meet AICC president and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, and LoP in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, along with all Congress MPs in New Delhi on July 24. They aim to seek support for exerting pressure on the govt during the ongoing parliament session to include enhanced BC reservations in the IX Schedule of the Constitution.The possibility of CM Revanth leaving for New Delhi on Tuesday or Wednesday is not ruled out, as he plans to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu, depending on their availability. PM Modi is scheduled to visit the United Kingdom and Maldives from July 23 to July 26. The CM is likely to stay back in Delhi after his July 24 meeting with Congress top leaders and meet Union ministers.Congress MPs Mallu Ravi and Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy confirmed on Monday that Revanth and Bhatti would be in the national capital on July 24 to meet Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. On the same day in the evening, the CM will make a PowerPoint presentation to all the MPs of Congress from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on the caste survey held in Telangana. This includes the two bills providing 42% reservations to the BCs and the ordinance sent to the governor for extending the quota to BCs in local bodies.The PowerPoint presentation would be made at Indira Bhavan, the AICC headquarters in New Delhi, on Thursday evening. Revanth would also meet the MPs of other like-minded parties to seek support for BC quota inclusion in the Constitution.The Congress MPs stated that the Independent Expert Working Group (IEWG), constituted by the Telangana govt to study the caste survey in the state, recently submitted a comprehensive report on its study and analysis of the caste survey. The CM is likely to share some finer points of it with Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, and later during the PowerPoint presentation.
