Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation R.V. Karnan, together with the Commissioner, Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency A.V. Ranganath, and Traffic Joint Commissioner of Police Gajarao Bhoopal conducted a field inspection in Serilingampally to take stock of the inundation points on the roads.

Mr. Karnan inspected the stormwater drain near Hitech City, and the surplus drain of the Tammidikunta lake, and the inundation point at Madhapur. He issued directions to the officials towards construction of stormwater drain and for removal of debris in the Tammidikunta lake. He asked the officials to remove the silt that got accumulated on roads.

A.V. Ranganath directed the Disaster Response Force (DRF) and Monsoon Emergency Teams to remain on high alert at all times in view of the heavy rains lashing the city. He emphasised the need for complete awareness of flood-prone areas and instructed officials to immediately clear debris from nalas and regularly clean catch-pits to prevent water logging.

He separately conducted a ground-level inspection of inundation points and desilting works in nalas. Mr. Ranganath visited several flood-prone stretches in Miyapur, Kondapur, Gachibowli, Aramghar Crossroads, Katedan, and Raj Bhavan Road. He inspected the RUB at Kothaguda Junction, where water had stagnated recently due to malfunctioning de-watering pumps. He issued directions to keep the backup pumps ready as a precaution.

At Indira Colony in Gachibowli, he reviewed the causes behind severe water stagnation that disrupted public movement. The problem, he noted, stemmed from an encroached nala, and he instructed officials to immediately begin nala widening works.

He also inspected the RUB near Aramghar Crossroads, where floodwater had accumulated due to heavy rain on Monday. He attributed the issue to the inadequate capacity of the existing channel and called for installation of motors to facilitate continuous dewatering.

He also visited Katedan, where waterlogging occurred under the bridge leading to the zoo, due to lack of a proper drainage channel for runoff from higher elevations. Officials were directed to extend the nala up to the Oora Cheruvu to avoid future inundation.

To prevent traffic disruptions during heavy rains, the Mr. Ranganath instructed that static response teams be stationed at all key roadways vulnerable to flooding. These teams, along with DRF and MET personnel, were directed to coordinate closely with traffic police.
