Tata’s 7-Seater Electric SUV Spied Testing

Being bullish on its product strategy, Tata Motors has planned a range of new electric vehicles (EVs) catering to both affordable to premium segments. The carmaker recently launched the Harrier EV at a starting price of Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It will soon be followed by the Tata Sierra EV and Safari EV, which were recently caught testing together. While the electric Sierra SUV is slated to arrive during 2025 Diwali season, the Safari EV is expected to hit roads in late 2025 or early 2026.

Harrier EV Sourced Powertrain:

The Tata Safari 7-seater electric SUV will be positioned against the Upcoming Mahindra Xev 7ewhich is due for launch in late 2025. It’s likely to share its powertrains with the Harrier EV, which comes with two battery pack options – 65kWh with single rear-mounted 238bhp motor and 75kWh with front-axle mounted 158bhp motor.

The AWD (referred as QWD) system is exclusively offered with the larger battery pack, delivering a combined power output is 313bhp. In its higher spec version, the Harrier EV offers a claimed range of 627km on a full charge. The electric range figures for the Safari EV might vary slightly.

Harrier EV-Inspired Features:

The upcoming Tata Safari EV might also borrow some features from the Harrier EV such as a 14.53-inch Samsung Neo QLED touchscreen infotainment system with inbuilt navigation, digital key with ultra-wideband, Bluetooth low energy, near-field communication, a digital IRVM with built-in dashcam recording.

Other features are expected to remain similar to its ICE version including a panoramic sunroof, 10 JBL speaker audio system, connected car tech, hill descent control, ADAS suite, electronic stability program with driver doze-off alert and more.

EV-Specific Design Elements:

On the exterior, the Tata Safari EV might feature EV-specific elements including a closed-off front grille and aero-optimized alloy wheels to enhancing its range. Similar to the its ICE counterpart, the electric Safari will feature the split LED headlamps, LED DRLs, a stepped roof design, roof rails with silver inserts, a large rear-quarter glass, a large rear overhang and LED taillamps.
