In a time when lakhs of young Indians dream of cracking a government exam, one man gave it all up after actually landing the job.
Meet Tuvanti Anil, a post-graduate from Qila Warangal in Telangana’s Warangal district. In 2019, Anil secured a coveted government job as a police constable. But just two years into the role, in 2021, he made an unconventional decision: he resigned to pursue self-employment.
Why? His motivation was not burnout or boredom. It was purpose.
Why Did He Quit?
Anil had been closely observing the rise in food adulteration, especially in cooking oils. He noticed how highly processed, chemically treated oils were linked to rising cases of cholesterol, blood pressure, and other lifestyle diseases.
He said he wanted to offer people something “healthier.” That’s when he came across the traditional Ganuga oil extraction process—also known as the cold-press technique. Intrigued by the health benefits and its Ayurvedic roots, he decided to dive in head-first.
How Did He Set Up His Shop?
To ensure he got it right, Anil consulted with food and health experts, visited local Ganuga oil producers, and trained at a unit in Mahabubnagar. Soon after, he launched his own setup called Orugallu Ganuga Oils, right next to the historic Qila Warangal Fort.
The machine he uses is crafted from Dirisana wood, known for its Ayurvedic properties. “The wood itself enhances the oil’s nutritional value,” Anil explains.
Setting up the unit cost him over Rs 10 lakh, a big leap of faith—but one that’s already paying off.
What Oils He Makes
- Orugallu Ganuga Oils currently produces four varieties:
- Groundnut (Palli) oil – Rs 500/litre
- Coconut oil – Rs 600/litre
- Sesame oil – Rs 750/litre
- Safflower oil – Rs 600/litre
Each is cold-pressed over 3 hours, retaining natural nutrients and taste. For instance, 12 kg of groundnuts yields about 4–5 kg of oil.
What makes his venture stand out is transparency and customisation. Customers can bring their own seeds—like 12 kg of sesame or peanuts—and get cold-pressed oil made for Rs 900. The oils are packed in glass bottles to maintain purity.
Health Benefits Of Ganuga Oils
Anil passionately explains that cold-pressed oils have several scientifically backed health benefits, including:
- Lowering bad cholesterol (LDL)
- Strengthening hair and nails
- Supporting Ayurveda’s Vata-Kapha balance
From Job Security To Financial Freedom
Anil currently sells 10 to 15 litres of oil daily, and earns up to Rs 1 lakh a month. What began as a solo venture now provides employment to three others.
He also offers free home delivery across Warangal for orders of more than 1 litre, boosting customer convenience.
His advice for others: “If you’re from a rural area and have land or space, consider this. The demand for pure oils is growing.”
Training Others To Follow His Path
Anil’s goal is not just business— it is impact. He wants to see more youth leave the adulterated oil market behind and launch similar ventures in their communities.
“If anyone is serious, they can contact me. I’m ready to train and guide them,” he adds, hoping his journey will inspire others to embrace local entrepreneurship rooted in health.
Why Does This Matter?
Anil’s story is not just about leaving a government job — it is about spotting a public health problem and offering a traditional, scalable solution. As India’s food safety and health awareness evolve, entrepreneurs like Anil could shape the future of what ends up on your kitchen shelf.
In an era where desk jobs and digital start-ups dominate headlines, his path—rural, rooted, and resilient—is a powerful reminder that real impact sometimes starts with going back to the roots.
