Hyderabad: Purse stolen at Peddamma Temple, Rs 40,000 withdrawn using ATM card


A woman visiting Peddamma Temple in Jubilee Hills had her purse stolen, and Rs 40,000 was later withdrawn using her ATM card. Police are examining CCTV footage. The victim had written her PIN on the back of the card.

Hyderabad: Unidentified thieves stole a purse from a woman who had come to visit a temple at Jubilee Hills and used her ATM card to withdraw cash from her account.

The woman, a resident of Dundigal, had come to the Peddamma Temple at Jubilee Hills Road no 36 to offer prayers. The woman afterwards left for her house in a bus.


After reaching the home, the woman noticed that her purse was stolen from the handbag. The woman then received a message on her phone informing her that Rs. 40,000 was withdrawn from the bank account.

The woman approached the Jubilee Hills police and made a complaint. The police are checking the footage of the closed circuit cameras to identify the persons who had stolen the property.

The police suspect that the thief who had stolen the purse had used the ATM card to withdraw cash.The woman told the police that she had written the ATM pin on the backside of the card.
