Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Friday issued notices to the director general of police, principal secretary (home), superintendent of police, Adilabad district, and other police officials over allegations of harassment and false cases filed against Adilabad-based businessman-turned-activist Rohith Shinde. Justice T Vinod Kumar issued the interim directions on a petition filed by Shinde’s wife, Swathi Shinde.Rohith is the proprietor of Shri Yuva Shakti Foundation, which is known for providing free meals, ambulance services, and water tankers to the needy at the govt hospital and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Adilabad.Swathi alleged that her husband had been actively working to prevent the illegal trafficking of cattle from the Adilabad border to slaughterhouses, which brought him into conflict with those involved in the illicit trade.As a result of these efforts, she claimed, men in plain clothes, claiming to be police personnel, attempted to forcibly detain her husband in May this year in connection with a case allegedly related to an incident from 2023.After hearing the plea, Justice Kumar directed the authorities to ensure due process of law is followed in all matters concerning the cases registered against Rohith. The matter has been posted for further hearing in two weeks.
