No respite as rains continue to lash Telangana

Hyderabad: Intermittent rains continued to lash Hyderabad on Friday, causing severe waterlogging, traffic congestion, and hazy conditions across key areas. According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), several locations within the GHMC limits recorded light to moderate rainfall, with the highest being 14.8 mm at Yousufguda Zonal Office and New Mettuguda Primary School.Other areas such as Nacharam (14.5 mm), Pilligadda (13.3 mm), Anandbagh (13 mm), Boudha Nagar (12.8 mm), and Kukatpally (12.5 mm) also saw significant showers. The rains disrupted traffic flow in parts of Khairatabad, Secunderabad, Malkajgiri, and Musheerabad, while low-lying areas like Bholakpur and Talla Basthi reported water stagnation. Hazy conditions prevailed in the morning, reducing visibility and compounding commuter woes.Elsewhere in Telangana, heavy rainfall was recorded in several districts. Nekkonda in Warangal topped the list with 56.3 mm of rainfall, followed by Chennaraopet (50.8 mm), Velganoor in Mancherial (50 mm), and Yellandu in Bhadradri Kothagudem (49 mm). Over 20 districts reported rainfall above 40 mm, especially in Warangal, Wanaparthy, Hanumakonda, and Rajanna Sircilla.Meanwhile, the IMD issued a warning for heavy rain at isolated places in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, and Nizamabad districts. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely across all districts of Telangana. In Hyderabad, a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain or drizzle and gusty winds is expected. Citizens were advised to avoid low-lying areas during peak rains, follow traffic advisories, and stay updated with official bulletins.
