A Deputy Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), posted in Rajendranagar was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday, July 25 for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2 lakh from a hotel owner.

According to the ACB, the accused officer, K. Ravi Kumar, who is currently serving as Deputy Commissioner of Circle-11 in Rajendranagar municipality, demanded ₹5 lakh from the complainant in exchange for not taking action against the hotel for not being up to code. The bribe was demanded for overlooking irregularities found in the hotel kitchen during an inspection and to prevent reputational damage or possible seizure of the establishment.

The ACB said the officer received ₹2 lakh from the complainant, which was recovered from him during the operation. Following his arrest, he was sent to judicial remand. The case is currently under investigation.

Authorities have urged the public to report any instances of bribery or corruption by public servants by calling the ACB’s toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be made via WhatsApp, Facebook, or X through ACB Telangana’s official channels. The identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
