Amid the NFL’s grueling summer grind, Wednesday’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice featured an unexpected cameo by Hall of Famer and Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders.

In attendance to support his son, rookie safety Shilo Sanders, cameras caught Deion laughing with Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles on the sideline during Day 1 of training camp.

That same afternoon, Deion posted sideline photos to Instagram, captioned simply “Had to visit Tampa to see @shilosanders #CoachPrime @cubuffsfootball @warrensapp @buccaneers.”

The post garnered swift engagement from across the league, most notably from his younger son, Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who replied briefly with, “mite mite.”

Shilo starred at Trinity Christian High School in Cedar Hill, Texas, before committing to th South Carolina Gamecocks, where he logged 33 tackles over two seasons (2019-20).

He then entered the transfer portal and joined his brother Shedeur and father Deion at with the Jackson State Tigers in 2021, where he posted 39 tackles, seven pass breakups and four interceptions, earning Second-Team All-SWAC honors.

A 2022 ACL injury limited him to seven games, but he rebounded with a 10-tackle debut for Colorado in 2023, finishing that season with 70 total tackles and a touchdown return.

After going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, Shilo signed an NFL contract with the Buccaneers, now with the hopes of making Tampa Bay’s 53-man roster before the season starts.

On the other side you have Shedeur Sanders, who threw for 3,231 yards, 30 TDs and eight INTs as an FCS freshman, winning the Jerry Rice Award and SWAC Freshman of the Year.

In 2022, he guided JSU to a 12-1 record with 40 touchdown passes and just six INTs, earning the Deacon Jones Trophy as the nation’s top HBCU player and SWAC Offensive Player of the Year.

Transferring to Colorado in 2023, he set a single-game school record with 510 passing yards in his Buffaloes debut, ultimately amassing 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns as a junior.

In his final year, Shedeur threw for a career-high 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns on the way to All-Big 12 honors and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Selected by the Cleveland Browns in Round 5 (144th overall) of the draft, Shedeur will now compete for the starting quarterback job alongside veterans Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and fellow draftee Dillon Gabriel.
