I spotted them while the car was up on a lift for underbody anti-rust treatment.
BHPian nandy.07 recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
I have a 1.5-month-old Skoda Kylaq done only 2k kms. I forgot to do underbody anti-rust spray. So, when I went to get it done, I noticed something unusual on the real axle and wheel part when the car was on a hydraulic lift.
The car has rear drum brakes, but where the brakes are mounted, there are 2 additional holes on the mounting bracket besides the ABS sensor.
Since I am unable to explain it, I have shared an image with the markings.
Here’s what Bhpian jaggu replied:
Should be the provision to attach disc brake calipers to the rear axle, so the same subframe can have drum or disc set-up. Good way to reduce parts complexity, I say.
Here’s what Bhpian dhanushs replied:
The rear axle looks like a shared component with the disc brake version of the car. Hence the provision to mount calipers.
