Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police on Saturday arrested three persons from Andhra Pradesh for allegedly possessing ganja at Bandlaguda crossroads.
The arrested have been identified as Mohammad Shameerulla Baig (35), Bodugu Rajesh (26) and Sonkavalli Naresh (29), all natives of East Godavari in Andhra Pradesh. As many as 25.612 kgs of ganja, four mobile phones, a laptop and Rs.3,000 in cash were seized from the possession of the arrested persons along with a car, all worth over Rs.3.90 lakh.
The police said Baig and Rajesh, who were partners in food supply business in train compartments, incurred heavy loss and were unable to repay their debts. They then decided to earn easy money by indulging in illegal business of ganja purchase and sale with the help of Naresh.
After procuring 25 kgs of ganja for Rs.1.85 lakh from one Ramu of Rajahmundry, they decided to sell it to Shiva at higher rate in Hyderabad. They came to Hyderabad to deliver the substance in a car when the police nabbed them at Bandlaguda crossroads. Both Ramu and Shiva were absconding in the case, the police said.
