Mahbubnagar Will Be ‘BJP Adda’: Rao

Hyderabad:Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of reducing reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) communities, neglecting pending irrigation projects and failing to address the ongoing migration crisis in Mahbubnagar district, which Rao declared would henceforth be a “BJP adda.”

Speaking at a public meeting during a two-day tour of Mahbubnagar, Ramchander Rao drew a contrast between Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet and the Telangana Chief Minister’s, noting that Modi has 25 BC members in his Cabinet while Revanth has only two.

He alleged that the Congress government slashed the BC quota from 46 per cent — matching their population share as revealed in its own caste census — to 32 per cent. “This reduction was made to allocate 10 per cent to Muslims, which is unconstitutional,” Rao claimed, asserting the BJP would scrap religion-based reservations and restore BC quotas proportionate to their share if voted to power.

Criticising Revanth Reddy’s comment that Prime Minister Modi is a “converted BC,” Ramchander Rao said, “There can be religious conversion, but not caste conversion. Revanth is simply mimicking Rahul Gandhi’s confused logic.” Terming the Congress-led caste census in Telangana a “fraud,” he averred that only the upcoming national census would provide credible, scientific data. “Even Karnataka’s Congress government admitted to flaws in its caste census and is preparing for a re-survey,” he said.

Highlighting Mahbubnagar’s local issues, Rao pointed to recurring food poisoning incidents in Gurukuls and BC hostels, blaming unhygienic food and poor toilet facilities for the students’ suffering. He challenged Revanth Reddy to treat Mahbubnagar with respect and claimed the BJP would soon dominate the district by winning all Zilla Parishad chairman posts and Sarpanch seats.

Ramchander Rao also accused the Chief Minister of being obsessed with Delhi visits instead of addressing state concerns. “His presentations in Delhi may deserve an Oscar, but they don’t solve real problems,” he said, citing the continuing migration of labourers to Mumbai from Mahabubnagar due to delayed irrigation projects.

Rao reaffirmed BJP’s growth in Telangana through increased memberships and stressed the need for party discipline. “Party interests must come before personal ambition,” he told workers.

BJP MP D.K. Aruna urged cadres to conduct door-to-door campaigns ahead of the local body polls to highlight the Centre’s welfare schemes. “Tell voters about the free rice scheme, the `6,000 Kisan Samman Nidhi, subsidised fertilisers saving farmers `20,000 a year, nutritious Anganwadi food for children and pregnant women, midday meals, free school uniforms and textbooks,” she said.

She also called on people to launch a movement demanding implementation of the Palamuru–Rangareddy old irrigation design, which would benefit seven Assembly segments in the united Mahbubnagar district, underscoring the BJP’s commitment to regional development.
