Hyderabad: Monsoon Dreams, an evening of exquisite dance ballet by the Tanusree Shankar Dance Company, was organised by Chowrangee at Taramati Baradari.
Tanusree Shankar is a legendary dancer and choreographer of international repute and a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. The first half of the evening encompassed her classic choreographic pieces such as Ganesh Vandana, Shiva, Serenity, Court Dance, Cloud, Wrishya Vihar, and Amity. Many of the dance pieces were set to the unique and distinctive melodies of the legendary modern composer Ananda Shankar, late husband of Tanusree Shankar.
The second half, a dance ballet titled Chirantan, presented excerpts from Rabindranath Tagore’s vast repertoire to reinforce humanity’s belief in itself, in truth, love, peace and spirituality. The narration and voice-over of Amitabh Bachchan and the beautiful music of Debajyoti Mishra infused a special thrill to this segment.
