
The vehicle in which the police officers were travelling met with a road accident in Choutuppal of Yadadri district in Telangana State on Saturday.

Two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) rank officers working with the Intelligence Department of the Andhra Pradesh police were killed in a road accident in Choutuppal, Yadadri district, in the early hours of Saturday (July 26, 2025).
The officers who succumbed on the spot have been identified as Chakradhar Rao and Shantha Rao. Additional Superintendent of Police K.V.S. Prasad and their driver, Narsing Rao, who were also in the vehicle, sustained serious injuries and have been shifted to a hospital for treatment.
The accident was reported around 4.45 a.m. on the Kaithapuram village road. The SUV the officers were travelling from Vijayawada to Hyderabad hit the divider and veered off to the other side before crashing into a lorry heading towards Vijayawada. “Additional SP Prasad is on ventilator, while Narsing Rao is said to be out of danger,” said the ACP of Choutuppal police, P. Madhusudhan Reddy.
According to Choutuppal Inspector G. Manmadha Kumar, the officers were en route to Hyderabad in connection with a case.
Commissioner of Rachakonda G. Sudheer Babu inspected the accident spot and said that an Accident Analysis Prevention Team (AAPT) is on the job to assess the reason behind the crash. “It is a very unfortunate incident. We are constantly conducting inspections and checks to ensure road safety measures are in place. The AAPT is engaged every time a fatal accident takes place to make sure that this does not repeat again,” said the officer.
Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, State Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, and Roads and Buildings Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy expressed shock over the death of the two DSPs in road mishap.
The Ministers directed the officers to provide better treatment to the injured and expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.
A case has been booked and further investigation is underway.
