Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police on Monday arrested three persons for selling duplicate accessories of the Apple brand.
Mohd Shahid Ali (48) and Irfan Ali (49), both natives of Uttar Pradesh and residing at Miralam Mandi and LB Nagar, respectively, and Santosh Rajpurohit (39) of Afzalgunj were apprehended for illegally procuring, stocking, and selling duplicate Apple-branded mobile accessories during a raid in Miralam Mandi, under the limits of Mirchowk police station.
While Shahid Ali procured the counterfeit Apple accessories from agents and stored them at his residence, Irfan Ali purchased counterfeit accessories from Shahid Ali and sold them further and Santosh Rajpurohit, proprietor of a mobile shop at Koti, sold counterfeit accessories.
The accused were found selling fake accessories packaged with replicated Apple logos, MRP stickers, security seals, and outer covers, closely imitating original Apple packaging. These items were being misrepresented as genuine products and sold to customers, causing financial loss and brand damage to Apple Inc, said Task Force Deputy Commissioner of Police, YVS Sudheendra.
As many as 28 duplicate Apple watches, 1145 Airpods, 52 USB cables, 14 adaptors, four power banks, 260 watch outer box covers, 480 watch SKU stickers, 428 MRP stickers and 350 accessories security seals, all worth over Rs.3 crore.
