Hyderabad: Musheerabad police have busted a ganja smuggling gang and arrested four persons involved in the illegal trade. The accused were caught red-handed while selling the contraband near a graveyard in Musheerabad.
Seizure details
Police seized 4.5 kg of dry ganja and three mobile phones from the accused, with the total value of the seized items estimated at Rs 2.24 lakh.
The arrested persons have been identified as CP Shekhar Suman (30), an event organiser; Kaleru Vihan (22), a B.Tech final-year student; Vuddadi Sai Vilash (34), a private employee; and Ch. Santosh (22), a delivery boy.
Modus Operandi
According to police, the accused had procured ganja from Araku Valley in Andhra Pradesh and transported it to Hyderabad using public transport. They were reportedly distributing the narcotic substance within the city when they were apprehended.
Absconding accused
Two other individuals involved in the racket, Vinod and Srinivas, both residents of Araku, are currently absconding. Efforts are underway to trace and nab them.
Police operation
The operation was carried out based on credible intelligence and was led under the supervision of DCP Central Zone, Ms. K. Shilpavalli, IPS. The team also included ACP L. Ramesh Kumar, Inspector G. Rambabu, and staff from Musheerabad Police Station.
Police said investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network and identify any other accomplices involved.
