Hyderabad: Armed Forces champion green mobility on India’s first solar-roofed cycling track

Hyderabad: The College of Defence Management (CDM), under the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), organised a cycling rally at the country’s first solar-roofed cycling track, the second of its kind in the world, at Gachibowli in Hyderabad on Monday.

Organised under the aegis of the Purple Pedalers Club of CDM, the rally featured 58 riders comprising tri-services officers, their families and international participants, cycling under the early morning sun to promote eco-conscious commuting and healthy living, a press release said.

The event, held to promote sustainability, fitness and environmental awareness, was flagged off by the youngest rider in the group, 6-year-old Shubham Bhowmick, symbolising the spirit of a greener, cleaner future for the next generation.

Maj Gen Harsh Chibber, AVSM, VSM, PhD, Commandant, CDM, was present on the occasion along with DV Manohar, Chairman of SmartBike and Hyderabad Bicycling Club.

Both applauded the riders and emphasised the importance of active lifestyles and smart urban mobility in today’s world.

“The Armed Forces are committed to leading by example in all spheres, including environmental responsibility and fitness. This ride reflects our belief in a cleaner, greener and healthier India,” said Maj Gen Harsh Chibber.
