AICC Telangana affairs incharge Meenakshi Natarajan will launch a week-long padayatra and Shramadanam programme across the State from July 31, announced Pargi MLA. T. Ram Mohan Reddy during a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday. He said that the campaign was aimed at strengthening the party from the grassroots and devising strategies for the upcoming local body polls would commence at Pargi in Vikarabad district.
“This padayatra will highlight the Congress government’s commitment to inclusive governance and people-oriented programmes. We will stay in villages, listen to locals and actively engage in community service named Shramadanam,” he stated.
Organised by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) as per the directive of the AICC, the programme will cover one constituency in each of the six erstwhile districts in the first phase from July 31 to Aug 6. Each day will feature a 10-kilometre padayatra starting at 5 p.m., followed by an overnight stay in the village. The next morning will include a Shramadanam (voluntary community service) event till 11 a.m., followed by an interaction with local Congress leaders and elected representatives at 3 p.m.
TPCC president and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and senior district leaders will participate in the programme along with Ms. Natarajan.
The padayatra will pass through Pargi, Andole (SC), Armur, Khanapur (ST), Choppadandi (SC) and Wardhannapet (SC) Assembly constituencies. Each stop includes a night halt and meetings with public representatives, including MPs, MLAs, MLCs, former contestants, mandal and block presidents, DCC office bearers, and leaders of frontal organisations.
The party has been appointed MLA Raj Thakur Makkan Singh, MLC Shankar Naik, Kethoori Venkatesh, Juluru Dhanalaxmi and Puli Kumar as Coordinators for the program.
