District Educational Officer (DEO) M. Venkatalakshmamma on Monday clarified that no teacher in Eluru district is being pressured to adopt ‘Bangaru Kutumbalu’ (Golden families) identified under the P4 (People–Public–Private–Partnership) initiative.
In a statement issued here on Monday (July 28, 2025), the DEO said that the District Collector has not issued any orders directing Mandal-level authorities to register 190 headmasters or school assistants as mentors under the initiative. She emphasised that enrolment as a mentor in the P4 initiative is purely voluntary.
Reacting to certain allegations, the DEO said that any teacher interested in serving as a guide under the programme is free to register themselves. However, there is no directive making it mandatory.
She pointed out that the District Collector is against assigning non-teaching duties to teachers and said that making baseless claims that teachers are being forced to adopt families under P4 is inappropriate and misleading.
