Ganja seized during raids in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Seven individuals were arrested and over 42 kilograms of ganja was seized in multiple raids by the officials of the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department.

At Secunderabad Railway Station, 32.8 kilograms of ganja, valued at ₹20 lakh, was discovered in three unclaimed bags on platform 10 during a joint inspection by the Excise enforcement team and Railway Protection Force (RPF). The packets are suspected to have been smuggled by train from Bhubaneswar. While no arrests were made, a case was booked and efforts are under way to trace the origin and intended recipients of the consignment.

In another case, excise officials intercepted a car in Thorrur area of Hayathnagar and seized eight kilograms of ganja being transported from Malkangiri district of Odisha. Three migrant workers, who had taken up centring work in Hyderabad, were arrested. Police said they turned to smuggling in view of their financial struggles, establishing contacts to supply cannabis from their native region.

Separately, the State Task Force (STF) raided Hill Fort, Adarsh Nagar, and recovered 1.6 kilograms of ganja, arresting 28-year-old Abhishek Singh, while two others were booked.

In Ghatkesar, 1.1 kilograms of ganja was seized and three accused – Kothuri Revanth, 21, from Jagital, Prashanth, 21, from Amboina, and Mote Santosh, and Mote Santosh, and Mote Santosh, and Mote.

Investigations are under way across all the cases to trace the broader supply chain.
