After a few days break, parts of Hyderabad witnessed unexpected showers on Wednesday (July 30,2025) evening, taking many commuters by surprise. The unanticipated showers disrupted routine travel as residents were largely unprepared, given the ongoing dry spell since the beginning of the week.

The spell of rain was reported from several areas including Parade Ground, Paradise, Marredpally, Kukatpally, and KPHB. With no warning earlier in the day, many people on the roads were caught without umbrellas or raincoats. While several commuters took shelter under Metro Rail pillars, some pedestrians were seen hastily seeking cover from the downpour.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert at 5.30 p.m., indicating that a cloud mass was moving in from the west. The department predicted light to moderate rainfall over central, northern, and eastern parts of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area for a couple of hours.

The Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data, which showed no rainfall until 5 p.m., changed with Hydernagar recording 12.3 mm rainfall as of 6 p.m. This was followed by 10.3 mm in Bowenpally, 9.8 mm in Kukatpally, 9.8 mm in Chanda Nagar, 9.5 mm in Moosapet, 9.3 mm in Safilguda, 7.5 mm in Quthbullapur, 7.5 mm in Serilingampally, 6.5 mm in Kapra and 6.3 mm in Anandbagh.
