Vijayawada: The high court on Wednesday allowed the petitioner, who challenged the land allotment made to LuLu Group in Visakhapatnam, to modify the petition to challenge the latest allotment made in Vijayawada.Advocate Paka Satyanarayana earlier filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition challenging the allotment of 13.83 acres of land in Visakhapatnam at a nominal price. Arguing on behalf of the petitioner, Ashok Ram told the high court that the state govt earlier cancelled the allotment made to LuLu Group at the same location. Now, on the pretext of a letter written by the chairman of LuLu Group, the state govt is again allotting lands without calling for competitive bids.Ashok Ram further said that the lands proposed to be allotted to the LuLu Group are in the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ). The state govt recently issued another GO for the allotment of land to LuLu Group in Vijayawada in the same manner, without calling for bids. He sought time to amend the prayer to challenge the GOs issued by the state govt.Allowing the request of the petitioner’s counsel, the high court bench, headed by Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Cheemalapati Ravi, posted the matter for further hearing next Wednesday.
