All in all Bagheera, now into her 9th year, continues to render trouble free service
BHPian V.Narayan recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
Service: What all was worked upon?
Bagheera went in for its 11th servicing. I used the opportunity to change the 4 tyres and get some denting painting work done on the front bumpers and the passenger side front door. Two jobs were replacing the suspension assembly on the two front wheels and replacing the coolant pump. Other than that it was the usual serving package plus polish and interiors.
Total cost was steep – Rs 2.93 lakhs all told. Service was good and solid as always. Bagheera continues to run without giving me cause for complain. The only fly in the ointment is that the beige leather seat covers get marked with crows feet age marks and at least Toyota don’t know how to fix it. I continue to poke them on this.
The other sub par item are their carpets – dirty grey in colour even after dry cleaning. I’m going to get my wife to purchase some nice coir mats for the 3 non-driver foot areas.
Maintenance cost after 8 years
Total cost of maintenance thus far over 8 plus years has been Rs 9.10 lakhs. This includes 2 tyre changes, ceramic coatings, denting-painting on 3 occasions, and scheduled part changes. It works out to Rs 1.07 lakhs per year and Rs 9.8 per kms run. These rates have gone up due to the work done this time plus the new tyre changes but are I believe reasonable for a mid-tier luxury car.
I believe a new model Lexus ES300h will enter service next year. Might be worth a look. Or should I go for a Volvo XC90 SUV.
All in all Bagheera, now into her 9th year, continues to render trouble free service.
