Telugu Film Workers and Daily Labour have threatened strike from 1st August. They have stated that they will only appear on sets of those producers’ films who are in favour of 30% salary hikes. They are stating that they do not compromise on this demand until Film Chamber of Commerce and Producers come up with amicable solution.
Going into the details, Telugu Film Workers Federation, Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation (TFIEF), have come to agreement with Chamber for 30% salary hike, every 3 years. The agreement expired on 30th June and Chamber agreed for only 5% salary hike for upcoming period. So, the federation had threatened indefinite strike.
They are resoning that the salaries for Film Workers of Telugu Cinema are too low and 30% hike over a period of three years should be reasonable for the kind of growth Industry is looking at and the kind of risks workers face. So, they are threatening indefinite strike from 1st August.
Federation representatives are going to meet Chamber representatives tommorrow around 11:30 AM and they are hoping for an amicable solution. If that isn’t the case, then they are going to announce indefinite strike and some producers who favor 30% hike, might go on with their shoots, without any issues.
