Hyderabad: A two-year-old boy was found abandoned in Mahbubnagar, with marks of injury visible on his body. The Mahbubnagar Town police got a call on Tuesday about the body and officials rushed to the spot where he had been left.“We took him to hospital, where doctors examined him and prescribed medication. We are not sure if the child suffered any physical abuse or if the marks on his body were the result of health or skin issues,” an official told TOI on Wednesday.Police said: “We are trying to check CCTV footage to see if we can identify who left the baby there. The baby has been moved to Sishu Vihar, where he is receiving care.”Unfortunately, such cases of child abandonment are frequent. Around eight months ago, a five-year-old boy was found abandoned on a road in Mahbubnagar town. He could not remember the names of his parents or where he lived. In another instance, an eight-year-old boy was found abandoned in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, one and a half years ago. As he told child welfare officials that he was from Jadcherla, they brought him to Mahbubnagar and handed him over to the child welfare authorities there. “We tried to ascertain where his house was from him, but he mentioned Guntur. He doesn’t seem to remember much, but we’re keeping him in our care,” said Sharada, the Mahbubnagar child development project officer.
