Hyderabad: One year since its inception, the Young India Skills University (YISU) in Telangana has trained as many as 507 students across 17 industry-aligned skill courses, with over 82% already receiving job offers. The initiative aims to address the mismatch between graduate qualifications and private sector job requirements.Operating from a temporary campus, YISU completed courses in healthcare, pharma manufacturing, IT, logistics, BFSI, and soft skills. It recently launched a BBA in Entrepreneurship and plans to reach over 5,000 students in the upcoming academic year.VLVSS Subba Rao, vice chancellor of YISU, said, “YISU has the mandate to impart industry-demanded skills to students of Telangana for enhancing employability and future-proofing their careers. The university began leveraging the existing industry ecosystem and building itself into a world-class Centre of Excellence in the areas of skill-integrated education, entrepreneurship, and outreach. We are set to address over 5,000 students in the coming academic year.“The university is also developing an AI-powered virtual platform, ‘YISU Digital Universe’, to deliver online skill education and job linkage services to 1 lakh students. A permanent campus at Bharat Future City is under construction and expected to be ready by Jan 2026.The first phase of construction, to the extent of 3.6 lakh square feet, is expected to be handed over to the university by December 2025. The campus will comprise an academic block with 43 classrooms, 84,000 square feet of lab space, hostels for 300 boys and 300 girls, an administrative block, etc.Built under a public-private partnership model, YISU collaborated with 21 industries to ensure industry-relevant training.
