The first seven months of 2025 have passed, and we have now entered the crucial monsoon season. August begins with the release of the dubbed film “Sir Madam” starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen, which has very little buzz. With Vijay Deverakonda’s “Kingdom” still running in theaters and the mythological film “Mahavatara Narasimha” drawing all the attention, it will be tough for this dubbed film to sustain its run.
Next week does not feature any notable releases except for a small film titled “Bakasuraa Restaurant.” After that, two dubbed films will compete at the box office during the Independence Day weekend. The following weeks will see the releases of films featuring Anupama Parameswaran and Ravi Teja.
Here is a look at the three major films that have the potential to set the box office on fire this month:
War 2
“War 2” marks NTR’s debut in Bollywood. Although primarily made for the Hindi market, the film features NTR alongside Hrithik Roshan in a lead role. Telugu rights were acquired by producer Naga Vamsi for a massive eighty crore rupees, making it a high-stakes venture. Despite not being a straight Telugu film or a solo NTR project, “War 2” is expected to open big in the Telugu states due to the hype created by NTR’s fanbase.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra, “War 2” promises intense action sequences and high-octane thrills.
Coolie
Superstar Rajinikanth’s films always create strong anticipation in the Telugu market. “Coolie” is generating even more buzz, thanks largely to its director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Known for his previous blockbusters like Khaidi, Master, and Vikram, Lokesh has built a loyal following among action film lovers.
Adding to the excitement is a stellar ensemble cast that includes Akkineni Nagarjuna, Shruti Hassan, Updra, and Soubin Shahir, Along with a Cameo Appearance by Bollywoodstar Aamir Khan.
In fact, expectations for “Coolie” are even higher than those for “War 2.”
Mass Jathara
In the final weeks of August, two more films are set to release: 1) Paradha, a female-led film starring Anupama Parameswaran, and 2) Mass Jathara, featuring Ravi Teja. From a business perspective, “Mass Jathara” is expected to collect big. It marks the second collaboration between Ravi Teja and Sreeleela after their hit film Dhamaka.
This mass entertainer is directed by Bhanu Bhogavarapu and produced by Nagavamsi under the Sithara Entertainments banner. Although Ravi Teja’s recent films have not performed well, the fact that he plays a police officer has created some positive buzz. Police roles have previously worked well for him.
