Hyderabad: Online services of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) have been severely affected since Thursday night.

In an official release issued by the HMWSSB, it stated, “Due to a technical issue at the data centre, the water board’s online services are temporarily unavailable. Our technical team is working to resolve the issue. We apologise for the inconvenience and are striving to restore services as quickly as possible.”

Majorly, tanker booking through the web portal of the HMWSSB halted completely. Other services, including new water connections and sewerage connections, billing payment through NEFT/RTGS, registration of grievances, billing disputes, and 20 other customer services, were also affected.

HMWSSB General Manager-IT, Krishna Sai, told Telangana Today, “All efforts are on to rectify the technical issue, and services may likely resume by this afternoon.”

A senior HMWSSB official who is tackling the tanker supply network in the city said, “We are operating tanker bookings manually due to technical issues and ensuring delivery of the tankers to the consumers on time. On average, the Hyderabad water board is receiving 1,500 to 2,000 calls every day through online booking,” said the official.

Currently, 11 lakh consumers are registered with the HMWSSB in Greater Hyderabad and are availing themselves of the facilities.
