Hyderabad: England suffered another massive blow with all-rounder Chris Woakes suffering a serious shoulder injury on the first day of the fifth Test against India at The Oval on Thursday.

Woakes sustained the injury while attempting to prevent a boundary during the 57th over of the Indian batting innings. He chased a Karun Nair off-drive from mid-off and attempted a dive in order to prevent the ball from reaching the boundary.

Woakes appeared in immediate discomfort and did not attempt to get up to return the ball. He was then assisted from the field by a member of the England support staff.
