Did a weekend round trip from Bangalore to Kodaikanal in my 330Li.
Route and Road Condition
Onward Journey 24 July 2025
Bangalore (5M SilKBOARD) – Hosur – Salem – Karur – Dindigundu – Dindigundu – Kodaikanal (Lake 2:30 pm)
Enroute stops – Breakfast at Sai Sangeet (Palayampudur)
Road condition: Overall great. Work in progress in some stretches between Hosur and Krishnagiri but manageable. Ghat Road from Kodaikanal foothills to the top (46 kms) is not well maintained, have to keep an eye out for potholes but nothing unmanageable.
E Pass and vehicle checks: E Pass is mandatory and was checked. Plastic bottles were removed from the vehicle. There were no liquor-related checks by forest guard or excise at any point (but was advised not to carry liquor from Karnataka by the hotel)
Stay: Sterling Kodai Lake (4/5)
Return Journey 26 July 2025
Kodaiikanal (1:30 pm) – Dindigul – Salem – Thoppur – Palacode – Rayakottai – Hosur – Bangalore (11:00 pm)
Road condition: NH844 (Nallampalli to Hosur) is only 70% complete and work is in an abandoned state. Better to avoid at this stage due to detours, lack of highway patrols and emergency services.
