John Abraham’s Tehran Skips Theatres for OTT

John Abraham is reportedly very disappointed with Maddock Films for their decision to release his much-awaited film “Tehran” directly on OTT instead of in theatres. The move appears to have affected the actor deeply, especially considering how much personal effort he invested in the project.

Known for his commitment and hands-on approach, John gave everything to bring “Tehran” to life. However, following the underwhelming box office numbers of “The Diplomat” and “Vedaa,” the production house seems to have lost confidence in theatrical risks.

Dinesh Vijan’s call to skip cinemas and drop “Tehran” straight on a streaming platform feels like a betrayal to many. Not just to John, but also to the film itself, which had strong theatrical potential. The trailer showed promise, and with the right marketing push, it might have been a solid performer on the big screen.

This situation also underlines a deeper issue with John Abraham’s image in the industry. Despite having a solid filmography and proven acting chops, he hasn’t pushed his brand like other stars do. His lack of self-promotion stands in sharp contrast to someone like Aamir Khan, who perfectly blends artistic credibility with mass appeal.
