A birthday celebration at a farmhouse near Hyderabad turned into a police bust when Excise officials raided the venue and caught IT professionals allegedly high on drugs. According to officials, six IT professionals were arrested for alleged drug consumption at the birthday party at the farmhouse in Chevella on Saturday night. LSD blots, hash and liquor were seized from their possession.
“Acting on specific intelligence, the Excise State Task Force (STF) raided the farmhouse in Chevella on Saturday night and seized LSD blots, 20.21 grams of hashish, liquor bottles, and three cars,” according to an official release, PTI reported.
All attendees were tested using drug detection kits and were found to be positive for drug consumption, it said.
The police stated that all six individuals were employed in the IT sector and were taken into custody. Two others, including the owner of the farmhouse, are absconding.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
14 Held in Hyderabad IT Hub for Buying Drugs
Days ago, 14 people, including several IT employees, were held in Hyderabad’s IT corridor, Gachibowli, while trying to purchase drugs. The city’s newly launched Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) carried out a decoy operation and to nab people trying to buy ganja.
Among those detained were two couples, one of whom had brought their four-year-old child along. While the husband was taken into custody, the wife and child were allowed to leave.
Most of the accused were between 22 and 34 years old. The group included students, IT employees, an architect, a dental technician, and a staff member from an advertising agency.
