In the Telugu film industry, it is common for producers to frequently change release dates. Some even alter them just four or five days before the scheduled release. Now, a major reshuffling of release dates for three high-profile films is underway.
Vishwambhara for Deepavali
The long-in-the-making “Vishwambhara,” starring Megastar Chiranjeevi and directed by Vassishta, is now aiming for an October release. The makers are planning to bring it to theaters during the Deepavali season. Once this date is officially locked and announced, the release schedules of other major films are also expected to change.
Akhanda 2 in December, The Raja Saab For Sankranthi
According to our sources, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s “Akhanda 2” has been postponed to December, as Pawan Kalyan’s OG is confirmed to hit theaters on September 25. So, “Akhanda 2” is moving from September to December.
Prabhas’s “The Raja Saab,” which has already seen multiple delays, is now being pushed from December to January 9. The film is entering the Sankranthi 2026 race, and a formal announcement is expected soon. With “The Raja Saab” vacating the December slot, “Akhanda 2” will take its place.
Mega157 to be pushed to summer 2026?
Although director Anil Ravipudi has a Sankranthi sentiment and initially aimed to release his film with Megastar Chiranjeevi (Mega157) during the Sankranthi 2026 festival, this reshuffling of dates is now forcing a change in plans. With ‘The Raja Saab’ occupying the festival window, Mega157 is likely to opt out.
Typically, two to three big films can release during the Sankranthi period. However, insiders say Mega157 may now be pushed to summer 2026 to maintain a healthy gap between Vishwambhara (Deepavali) and this film.
Overall, audiences can expect a wave of new announcements and updated posters with revised release dates in the coming days.
