Har Ghar Tiranga Drive Begins in Telangana

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP has launched the Har Ghar Tiranga and Tiranga Yatra campaigns ahead of the 2025 Independence Day celebrations, with the stated goal of promoting patriotism and national unity. The launch event, held at the party state office in Nampally, was led by former Madhya Pradesh BJP president and MP V.D. Sharma, who briefed party cadres on executing the programmes effectively.

The campaigns will culminate in flag hoisting at every home on Independence Day, celebrating India’s unity, freedom and military valour. The plans include district- and mandal-level workshops, Tiranga Yatras from rural to urban areas, clean-up drives at war memorials and felicitation of ex-servicemen and martyrs’ families.

Party leaders will also amplify Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat appeal for mass participation in the Har Ghar Tiranga movement.

In a statement, BJP vice-president Dr G. Manohar Reddy said the campaign was about more than flag hoisting—it symbolised pride in India’s achievements. Citing Operation Sindoor, a recent armed forces mission against terror camps, he said it served as an inspiration for national unity. The aim is to see the Tricolour flying atop every home in Telangana, uniting people across social and economic divides.

BJP general secretary Chandrashekhar Tiwari also took part in the launch programme.

Telangana joins national dengue vaccine trial

Telangana is participating in a national clinical trial testing the efficacy of the dengue vaccine. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said the Phase III multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial—titled DengiAll—is evaluating a single dose of a tetravalent, live-attenuated, recombinant, lyophilised vaccine. AIIMS Bibinagar is the trial site in Telangana.

The trial involves over 10,000 participants nationwide, with 70 per cent enrolment already completed. The budget is estimated at Rs 1.3–1.5 crore per site.

According to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), India reported 5,73,563 laboratory-confirmed dengue cases through the Integrated Health Information Platform in 2024. All four dengue virus serotypes—DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4—circulate in India, and multiple serotypes can co-exist in the same region or infect a person simultaneously. Participants have been recruited from different zones to assess the vaccine’s efficacy against all four strains.

ICMR noted that there is currently no specific antiviral treatment or licensed vaccine for dengue. National guidelines on dengue case management emphasise hospital preparedness and advisories are issued periodically for prevention and control.
