Hyderabad Collector Calls for Action Against Quacks Administering Allopathic Treatment

Hyderabad: Highlighting the illegal practice of quacks administering allopathic treatment, Hyderabad district collector Harichandana Dasari called for immediate inspections and action. “Hospitals must be inspected thoroughly, with special focus on the credentials of doctors and any pending cases against them,” she said.

Medical officials informed that joint inspection teams are also targeting unregistered clinics operating at night. A list of such facilities has been submitted, and authorities have been asked to initiate legal action and impose penalties accordingly. Meanwhile, in Hyderabad district, 374 private hospitals have applied for permanent registration and renewal under the Clinical Establishments Act, 2010. Of these, 322 applications have been forwarded for approval by sub-divisional public health officials (SPHOs). Collector Dasari has instructed joint teams comprising health officials and police to revisit these hospitals and submit a report within a week.

Chairing the district level registering authority committee meeting at the collectorate on Tuesday, she stressed that all hospitals must comply with the Act before being granted permission to operate and strict action should be taken against unlicensed facilities.

The collector also directed SPHOs to coordinate with police to register cases against hospitals running without valid licences. Hospitals making structural or operational changes must obtain fresh permissions, she added.
