Hyderabad: The Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) celebrated its 82nd Foundation Day on Tuesday at its campus in Tarnaka.

IICT Director, Dr. D. Srinivasa Reddy, reflected on the institute’s long-standing legacy and its contributions to science and industry and highlighted the institute’s recent achievements including publications, patents, transfer of technologies, institutional events and outreach programs.

Delivering the Foundation Day Lecture, Prof. Ullas Kolthur, Director of CDFD, spoke on the theme “Translating Fundamental Discoveries to Social Benefit” and detailed rare genetic and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), emphasizing that NCDs, despite their high mortality rates, do not receive as much funding as conditions like HIV/AIDS.

Srinivasa Oruganti, Director, Dr. Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences, delivered a special lecture on “Changing Paradigms in API and Intermediate Manufacturing. “CSIR-IICT has been championing India’s pharmaceutical progress. It is an undeniable fact that IICT has contributed to the global leadership of India in the generics,” he said.
