School Bus Crashes into Fields in Eluru After Steering Rod Breaks

Vijayawada: Eight students sustained minor injuries, including one suffering a hairline wrist fracture, when a private school bus they were travelling in skidded off its course and landed in a roadside paddy field at Mudinepalli village in Eluru district on Wednesday morning.

According to Mudinepalli police, a private school bus carrying nearly 30 students was proceeding from Chigurugunta village of Mudinepalli when its steering malfunctioned, causing the driver to lose control over the vehicle. As he applied brakes, the bus skidded off the road and ended up in a roadside field. When the children started screaming for help, locals present there rushed to their rescue.

Meanwhile, the police inspected the spot and shifted the injured kids all aged between five and eight years to the nearby private hospital.

Police booked a case and seized the bus. Investigation was in progress.
