Hyderabad: The US consulate general in Hyderabad has appointed Laura E Williams as the new consul general. A career officer in the US senior foreign service, Williams brings over two decades of experience in diplomacy, technology, and public service. Before her posting in Hyderabad, she served as the deputy chief information officer for enterprise services at the US department of state in Washington, DC. Her previous assignments include US embassies in Cyprus, Algeria, Italy, and Bangladesh. Williams will oversee diplomatic and consular operations across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha. She shared her priorities include expanding the US-India cooperation in areas such as higher education, trade, climate action, and innovation. “I’m pleased to be in Hyderabad and look forward to working closely with govt officials, business leaders, and civil society,” she said. She succeeds Jennifer Larson, who recently concluded her tenure.tnn
